    One 6-hour class. Ready to experience something completely different? Learn how Mitch Lyons' unique printmaking process changed the way clay can be used. You will be working from a slab of clay, adding layers of colored clay slips, pastels, textures, and imagery. From this the monoprints will be pulled. Even if you’ve never worked with clay or know nothing about printmaking, you’ll be excited to learn how to pull your very own clay monoprints. All levels welcome. Additional $30 material fee. Ages 18+ Student supply list (optional): apron, cottage cheese, yogurt plastic containers for slip, any textures or stencils, etc. you would like to use.

  3. Gothic Fantasy: Rockwood Landscape Architecture Tour

    Enjoy an ideal garden walk and listen to stories of the planning, design, and construction of Rockwood’s unique Gothic revival mansion and Picturesque landscapes. The tour guide will give information about the biography of Rockwood’s first owner, Joseph Shipley, and the history of British and American architecture at this time to create a context for this preserved rural oasis. Highlights will include one of the oldest attached conservatories in America, Rockwood’s Heritage Garden of 19th-century trees, and one of the best-preserved ha-ha walls outside of Great Britain. This tour pairs very well with the Guided Museum Tour of the interiors. Ages 14+. Social distancing is recommended. Folding chairs are recommended.     Take a rare walk back in time to learn how the existing and lost structures of Rockwood completed a working estate of food production, animal husbandry, household utilities, transportation, and other 19th-century challenges. Tour is approximately 90 minutes in length and covers approximately 1 mile to include surfaces of grass, gravel, and paved areas. Ages 14+. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
