The public week ahead schedule for New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer April 26 to May 1

 

Tuesday, April 26 1 p.m. – County Executive Meyer will attend the Kalmar Nyckel Tall Ship of Delaware Day to mark their 25th year and to launch start of their sailing season. The County Executive will present a proclamation on behalf of New Castle County to leadership of the Kalmar Nyckel. Fourth Street Bridge, Riverfront Wilmington. 

 

Tuesday, April 26 6 p.m. – County Executive Meyer will attend the graduation ceremony for the 48th Recruit Class of the New Castle County Police Academy. The academy will graduate 18 recruits who will join the County Police, and three for other New Castle County police agencies  including New Castle City Police Department, Middletown Police Department and the Delaware City Police Department. Wednesday, April 27 12 p.m. – County Executive Meyer will attend the Middletown Area Chamber of Commerce spring luncheon. The guest speakers will be Appoquinimink School District Superintendent Matt Burrows and CEO of Delaware Prosperity Partnership Kurt Foreman. 27 Green Street, Middletown, DE 19709.

 

Wednesday, April 27 1 p.m. – County Executive Meyer will present a proclamation to New Castle County Crossing Guard Rick Boyer. Crossing Guard Boyar, who works at the Middletown High School location was credited with stopping an oncoming car in time to allow students to safely cross the busy intersection. Wednesday, April 27 7 p.m. – County Executive Meyer will participate in Easterseals Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore annual Legislative Bartending event to raise money for Easterseals. County Executive Meyer will be joined by a host of other local elected officials to raise money for the non-profit. Thursday, April 28 9 a.m. – County Executive Meyer will attend “The Wall That Heals” Welcome Home ceremony at William Penn High School. The Wall That Heals is a program of VVMF, the nonprofit organization that built the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. in 1982. It is the only traveling exhibit affiliated with The Wall in Washington, D.C. and includes the largest Wall replica that travels the country. Thursday, April 28 10:30 a.m. – County Executive Meyer will be joined by Councilpersons Janet Kilpatrick and Tim Sheldon for the ceremonial signing of New Castle County Ordinance 22-030; an update to the drainage code that will reduce water pollution and flooding. Thursday, April 28 12 p.m. – County Executive Meyer along with local community and faith leaders will participate in Yom HaShoa, Holocaust Remembrance Day. Annual Holocaust Remembrance Day Ceremony is co-sponsored by Jewish Federation of Delaware’s Jewish Community Relations Committee, Halina Wind Preston Holocaust Education Committee and DERECH (Delaware Rabbinical and Cantors Association). Friday, April 29 9 a.m. – County Executive Meyer will deliver remarks at the Delaware Center for Horticulture 2022 Branches to Chances GraduationBranches to Chances is a horticultural job training program for unemployed, underemployed, and/or previously incarcerated individuals. Training is aimed at connecting participants with entry-level positions in the horticulture industry, such as landscaping, tree maintenance, and park maintenance. 1810 North DuPont Street, Wilmington, DE 19806. Friday, April 29 1 p.m. – County Executive Meyer will deliver remarks at the Pathways to Apprenticeship (P2A) graduation class. Delaware Pathways to Apprenticeship is a not-for-profit organization that seeks to end intergenerational poverty by providing access to opportunities for transformational apprenticeships in the building trades that lead to middle class careers.
