New Castle County was awarded $322 million from the United States Treasury as part of the CARES Act. The County is investing in daily coronavirus testing, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), COVID-19 related reimbursement for municipalities and fire companies, housing assistance and specific emergency assistance programs for non-profit organizations.  

The County Executive convened Support Committees to provide recommendations on additional spending priorities, resulting in the following four funding opportunities. 

NOTE: The US Treasury requires that any funds granted must be spent by 12/30/2020.

1) Health Equity Grant

DEADLINE: 9/11/2020

Non-profit groups, organizations and small businesses addressing health equity issues in New Castle County can submit a proposal to receive funding to continue or expand their efforts to address health disparities in vulnerable communities disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. Application deadline: Friday 9/11/2020 at 11:59pm.

2) Innovation Grant

DEADLINE: 9/11/2020

This grant seeks to fund innovative solutions to COVID-19 problems and reduce the spread of the coronavirus. Examples of competitive proposals include unique ideas to contract trace positive cases, commercial cleaning technology and solving problems stemming from the coronavirus. Groups encouraged to apply include small businesses, entrepreneurs, non-profits, health and science organizations. Entities must be based in New Castle County. Funding will be disbursed to the highest scoring proposals for the implementation of their idea.  Application deadline: Friday 9/11/2020 at 11:59pm.

3) Food Distribution Grant

DEADLINE: 9/4/2020

Non-profit groups and organizations addressing increased food insecurity in New Castle County due to the COVID-19 pandemic may complete this online application to receive funding to purchase needed food supplies. Funding will be shared proportionately, based on the number of people being served during the pandemic. Application deadline Friday 9/4/2020 at 11:59pm.

4) Distance Learning Grant

DEADLINE: 9/18/2020

As public schools re-open using hybrid or virtual models, teachers are faced with challenges of teaching their students through distance learning. New Castle County will offer additional resources to help our teachers and students succeed in this challenging environment. Principals at district and charter K-12 schools in New Castle County can apply for funding to support their distance learning programs. Funds will be awarded on a per-pupil basis.
