The Weaving Studio, part of New Castle County's Art Studio has offered organized weaving classes for many years with accomplished and notable teachers.
The Weaving Studio is open every Tuesday evening from 6 – 9 p.m. Students may attend whenever it suits their schedule and only pay for the sessions they attend.
New weavers will receive instruction on design, planning, winding a warp, dressing the loom and weaving technique. Guidance is also available for fixing mistakes and finishing techniques.
One benefit of the open studio arrangement is that students may see works in progress and observe other weavers at different stages of the weaving process and learn from a whole studio of weavers! We have a wonderful community of weavers ready to help each new weaver explore their creativity with this fascinating craft.
The Weaving Studio has 15 floor looms, a rigid heddle loom, table looms and other weaving equipment and accessories. We also offer a small lending library of books and magazines for participating students. A wide range of yarns are available or students may bring their own. Additional weaving workshops and classes are offered periodically as well.
