New Castle County Code, Chapter 7 (Property Maintenance Code), Article 2 (Registration and Payment of Fees for Vacant Premises) requires the registration of vacant properties within 90 days of vacancy. Please utilize the appropriate registration form. Refer to Chapter 7 for more information.

Vacant Property Registration Fees may now be paid online with a credit card using the Vacant Property Registration Fee Payment System.
On May 16, 2017, County Executive Meyer signed legislation into law that gives County government new tools to tackle vacant and abandoned housing and unveiled a vacant property strategy, including state legislation aimed at strengthening community development, reducing crime and supporting home ownership.
